A Reminiscence

Anne Bronte

YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.

May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have ever known,
The kindest I shall ever know.

Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so fair,
United to heart like thine,
has gladdened once our humble sphere.

Analysis-Title: The title, "A Reminiscence" makes me think that this poem will be about
remembering something the poet misses or maybe something nostalgic.

Paraphrase:The peom is about how a person lost his/her love and how the person
is thankful that he/she got to know his/her love and about how the times they spent
together were perfect.

Connotation:Theres IMAGERY when the poet talks about pacing the floor etc. From
that line you can sort of see the person in his/her thoughts just sort of wandering
and it creates sort of a mood in the poem. The poem also has a RHYME SCHEME that
goes ABAB CDCD etc. This creates a subtle rhythmn that makes the poem more
smooth. The humble sphere is a SYMBOL for maybe I think the earth and it means like the person who died made a good impact on the world tey were living in.

Attitude:Considering this poem is about the death of a loved one I think its very light
amd not that depressing. The poet instead of making the poem utterly depressing
the poet talks about how the person who was dead was really good person and how the time they spent together was great and that just the fact that the person was alive and
they could betogether was good enough. I think it's a sad poem it just has a real nice feeling to it.

Shift:The first two stanzas talk about the dead person and where he/she lies but the last two stanzas talk about the the memories they had and how ther person used two be like when he/she was alive.

Theme:The theme is the dead person and what he/she was alike when she was alive.
It talks about where he/she lies dead and what he/she was like when he/she was alive
by using the memories of the dead person's loved one.

Title:The poem is about remembering old times and stuff but more specifically about
a dead loved one.

"I Loved You..."

Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin

I loved you, and I probably still do,
And for a while the feeling may remain...
But let my love no longer trouble you,
I do not wish to cause you any pain.
I loved you; and the hopelessness I knew,
The jealousy, the shyness - though in vain -
Made up a love so tender and so true
As may God grant you to be loved again.

S-Sense:The poem is about a one-sided love. It talks about how the person loved someone at one point but it seems that later on it seems that the person realized that they could no longer love the other person anymore. It ends sadly as the poem talks about how even all the not so good times made up for a really tender love and it ends wishing ther other person love even if its not theirs.

I-Intenion:I think this poem was written maybe because the author had experienced a love like this and it had a big impact on them. Or maybe it was just to express a kind of love. I think that in a way this poem talks about how even if its a one-sided love things can still be good and you should be able to wish the other person luck if you truely love them. I think this poem shows that even if its a one-sided love you can still be happy and also that you will eventually find the strength to overcome it.

F-Feeling:This poem made me feel really sad and it was really amazing how it pulled all kinds of emotions out of me. It's just a really deep and moving poem. It made me think about like my past and the times I;d had a crudh or something. I think the word choice was key in pulling out the emotions and they just made the poem that mmuch more moving and alive. Also the way the poet writes this poem is as if the event is happening and the wasy its written just soounds so realistic and its just works.

T-Tone:The poem is told in 1st person as if the poet is experiencing the love right now. The poet writes the poem as if he's telling us about his tragic love.

S-Style/Symbol:The style of the poem I think is mostly sad because the poet talks about how he's always loved the other person through all the jealousy and stuff and so it sort tugs at your heart. It's also a bit self-pitying. Like the poet talks about how like even though it was a good love the poet has to get over it because this love can never come true. There's not much symbolic stuff in this poem.

E-Emotion:It makes me feel sad and makes me pity the author.

I-Imagery:When the poet talks about shyness and jealousy it gives me a mental image of like the author and how he would look like. Also when the poet describes the love it shows that he had a pure and kind love and it kind of show what kind of person he is.
